Updated Buddy Walk Information

Hey all.

Our team captain finally emailed us information and it really was not much more than I already knew.

The website is different this year. It is not as user friendly and it DOES NOT keep track of personal and team goals (which sucks in my opinion because I have set a goal for myself and I want an easy way to keep track of it). Oh well, what can you do?

Okay...a direct link to the donation page is here. If you do enter a donation on their page, please let me know how much so I can keep track of my donations. Thanks! Also, do not forget to put our team name on the donation.....THE JAY WALKERS.

Thanks all!

Coulda Been Worse

Okay, so Steele's honeymoon cruise could have been worse. Yep...paying $3000+ for a cruise to the Bahama's and not setting foot in the Bahama's, but seeing it from the boat...coulda been worse. They coulda hit some road kill. Or is that ocean kill?

Imagine being at sea on a wonderful Alaskan cruise only to get back to home port to find a DEAD WHALE on the bow of the cruise ship. Yep...the cruise ship hit and killed a whale.

I thought when Matthew first started mentioning this to me that I would be appauled but I honestly laughed till it hurt.

So, what do you think they do with a whale that has been hit by a ship? Better yet, how many times do you think this has happened in history? Hmm.

Ponder that!

Buddy Walk 2006

It's that time of year again.

The Madison Area Down Syndrome Society's Buddy Walk (and other Down Syndrome Societies around the United States) is right around the corner(September 3oth). I will again be volunteering and walking for the "Jay Walkers" this year and I promise this year to put pictures up (I did not have time to take pictures last year).

Last year MADSS raised $62,000 and our goal this year is $65,000. I know we can do it! Last year, my personal goal was $100 and I raised $120 thanks to my friends. I want to raise my personal goal to $150 this year. Who will help me?

I will be posting more information as I get it. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line. You can go to the MADSS Buddy Walk website for information too.

This is a great cause and the money raised from Buddy Walk helps to fund MADSS and all its services it provides for our families who have a family member(s) with Down Syndrome.

Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks!

My Brother's Luck

Poor Steele.

Melinda's parents gave them a 5 day cruise to Key West and Nassau/Bahama's for their wedding gift.

He called me from Key West on Monday. They were having a good time.

But apparently the captain of their ship does not know how to dock his ship in Nassau. He hit the ground with a main propellor and they had to abandon their trip to Nassau/Bahama's.

He just called me. They are okay but pretty peeved. The cruise line has given them $100.00 ON SHIP credit. WTF. And they get 25% off their next cruise. Steele says he might go on another cruise but not with this cruise line.

Well, I told him that this was all his luck. We laughed but yeah...his vacation sucked. They were bored and are happy to be getting back home tomorrow.

Happy sailing!

MY 100th POST!!!

Okay so it has taken me over a year to make my 100th post but I have finally done it!
YAY!

Taken in September 2005 by ME.

Look-A-Like

Okay...I finally dug up the pictures of Steele with his long hair that I mentioned in my Clerks II blog from last Friday.

Steele in like 1998 or something

Mewes in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" (If I'm not mistaken).

Let me know what you think!

OH yeah...had to add this one too. If you've seen Clerks II, you will understand!

Take care!

;)

Brew Fest 2006

Another brew fest down the hatch. We had so much fun this year. It was hot and sticky but lots of fun. I think I drank more last year than this year because of the heat. It rained last year (but that was fun too).

A view of Lake Monona from Olin Park

Left to Right: Mike, Julie, Steve, Jeff, and Me

Left to Right: Julie, Lindsay, Dave, Jeff, and Matt

Jeff's artistic view of his beer.

Two men and their beers. What more could they want?

Behold...It's Beer Man to the rescue!

So needless to say, we had a great time at Brew Fest this year. We saw a lot more of Matt's co-workers this year.

We saw a lot of great shirts and a great hat this year too.

Lebowski Fest

"I'm only here cause my dad drank beer!"

"The liver is evil...It must be punished."

"When Chuck Norris Has To Pee At Lickety Split, The Trees Find Him."

LaCrosse Lager beer box hat. Hmm...I must get me one.

Oh hey...Chuck Norris shirt guy. Here's your joke..."God doesn't make Beer. Chuck Norris makes beer." So, for those of you who do not know what I am talking about, the guy with the Chuck Norris shirt on let me take his picture and then asked me what my Chuck Norris joke was. I told him I did not have a joke but I would come back later. Well, there was your joke Chuck Norris guy. It sucks but hey...your dad gave it to me. LOL

I hope we have better luck getting more tickets next year and go with a bigger crowd. We have a year to get ready. YEAH!!!

Good drinking!

Fun when bored...

Okay so ya'll know (or maybe not) that I am a romance novel junkie. Yeah. I said it. I am addicted. :) Hey, they are great reads. I do NOT read the trashy ones....yes there is a difference between the ones I read and the trasy ones. But I will not go into that right now.

Elizabeth has turned me onto a new author. Damn her. :) She is the one who got me addicted to romance novels in the first place. What was it....three summers ago I think. Laurell K. Hamilton is my new addiction. She has a series of books called the "Anita Blake Vampire Hunter" novels. I just finished book two tonight ("The Laughing Corpse") and will start book three ("Circus of the Damned") as soon as I get a chance.

To describe these books is hard. They are drama. They are mystery. They are thrilling. Okay...here is a good describer--Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Anne Rice. Yeah...that about sums Anita Blake up.

They are like Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles with a little cheekiness. There is, so far, a love hate relationship between Anita, who is a vampire hunter, and the Master Vampire, Jean Claude. It reminds me a lot of Mulder and Scully's relationship in X-Files.

If you liked Buffy and like Anne Rice, I highly recommend reading these books. They are great but you HAVE to read them in order. Go....get them. Read. Talk to me.

Clerks II

Matt and I finally broke down and went to see Clerks II tonight. As with all sequals, I thought this one would not hold a candle to the original Clerks movie. I mean, come on....Clerks is a classic. But I was wrong. Clerks II, although not as good as the first, was great. I laughed so hard I had tears. Most of the hilarity insued with Jason Mewes' character "Jay." He is brilliant...that's all I can say. He kinda reminds me of Steele, my brother, when he had long hair. Hmm...I will have to dig up a picture of him and do a side by side for ya'll. But not tonight.

Anyways. The movie was great. If you are a Kevin Smith fan, GO SEE IT!

That time of year again!!!

Yep...it is that time of year again. Brew Fest is here! YAY!!! Matt and I waited in line on May Day again to get tickets to this years Brew Fest. It did not snow this year but it did rain which sucked. After waiting in line for hours, we were turned away from the Wine and Hop Shop without tickets. Grrr!!! There were probably 45 or so people in front of us and another 30 or so behind us. That is a lot of angry people. Luckily for us, our friends Chuck and Julie were able to score the last four tickets at the venue they were waiting at. They saved two of them for us. YAY Chuck and Julie!!!

I am sure this year will be as much fun, if not more fun, than last year. I will be sure to take lots of pictures and post them for ya'll to see.

Until next time!

Happy drinking!

Talladega Nights

Okay, for those of you who do not know, I am addicted to NASCAR. Yes, I am a NASCAR junkie. LOL. I love watching the races from start to finish (except for Watkins Glen which is this weekend). I was very upset when I thought I was not going to get to watch the Brickyard 400 on Sunday because we were visiting some of Matthew's family. But I was lucky. I got to watch it and was very happy that I did. My boy Jimmy Johnson won. YEAH!!!

So anyways...back to the reason for this post. We saw Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby on Friday (opening day). It was hilarious. I so recommend seeing it (I know I posted something about this movie the other day but I feel I needed to say more). Will Ferrell is not one of my favorite actors but I cannot see anyone else playing Ricky Bobby. He was so funny. I am not sure if you have to be a NASCAR fan to appreciate this movie but I sure did like it and could laugh at some of the things in it because I follow NASCAR so avidly. Go see it!

Savannah

So I decided to post a few of my Savannah pictures here on my blog so ya'll can see them.

A Magnolia Bloom

The Cotton Exchange

Riverfront View

River Boats

Old Trolly Tracks on the Riverfront

Colonial Park Cemetery (not THE cemetery)

I will post more pictures as soon as I can.

I'm Back!

Hey Ya'll...I am back and am so glad. It is really nice to sleep in your own bed after two weeks of vacation. We had a great time and got lots of visiting in with all of our family.

I am in the process of posting pictures on my Flickr account. Check it out. Since I am a cheap person, I can only upload so many pictures in one month and guess what? I used up all this months quota. The Savannah pictures will be posted next month.

Hey All!

Hey everyone! We are here in Florida sitting at Matt's daddy's house. I thought since I had time I would update everyone on our vacation.

Yesterday was Steele's wedding (I will post pictures soon). It was beautiful and more organized than I thought (ya'll do not know Steele like I do). Melinda's dress was very beautiful. Steele was nervous but he calmed down. It was a nice service even though the priest kept talking about babies and children (weirded Melinda out a lot). Melinda was worried that everyone was gonna think she was preggers. LOL. The reception was nice too. Lots of dancing and fun.

Ohhh...on our way down to Florida, we stayed in a Hampton Inn right outside of Indianapolis. This was the NICEST Hampton Inn EVER! The night we stayed was their opening night. How cool is that? No one had EVER slept in our bed. No one had EVER showered in our shower. How many people get that opportunity? It was awsome!

In South Carolina, we saw a car that was decked out like a Louis Vuitton purse. It was so ghetto. It was dark blue with light blue circles with LV symbols on it. The bottom panel of the car was painted khaki with more LV symbols. I was not fast enough to take a picture but I will always remember this car.

Savannah was beautiful. Lots of people and good food. We did go to the cemetery but I was not impressed with it like some cemeteries I have been in. It was old but I did not feel like it was inviting. I dunno.

We saw Talladega Nights on Friday. It was a hoot. I enjoyed it but I am not going to tell you about it so you can go see it and enjoy it yourselves.

We are leaving Florida on Tuesday and will be home on Wednesday. We have had a good time but I am ready to sleep in my own bed again.

Until next time!
