Batman Begins

Matthew, Alanna, and I went to see "Batman Begins" yesterday. It was actually pretty good. I had no great expectations for it, partly because I have not really liked any of the other Batman movies.

I feel that Christopher Nolan and David Goyer did a great job explaining Bruce Wayne's past. Sometimes I feel that background stories are weak and lacking information. It's almost like they really did not want to put the information in the movie but had to. In the case of "Batman Begins," they did a wonderful job. I know they probably explained why Batman is Batman in previous movies, but I never understood it until I saw this movie.

I also have to give kudo's for the casting. I always loved how Michael Gough played Alfred in the previous movies. But I have to say that Michael Caine did a superb job. I just love him. I really do think he's a great actor. I also have to give kudo's over Gary Oldman's portrayal of Lieutenant Gordon (later known as Commissioner Gordon). Gary Oldman is also a great actor and did a wonderful job in this movie. Can't wait to see him again in the next Harry Potter movie. As much as I thought the cast was great, I do think they could have made Katie Holmes' character, Rachel Dawes, a bit stronger. She just is not a convincing actress to me.

So anyway...I do recommend seeing this movie. I hope you enjoy it. I think Christian Bale is my new favorite Batman. He did a wonderful job.

Enjoy!

He Finally Did It!!!

Well...after 11 years, Matthew has finally proposed to me. Wednesday, June 16th was our anniversary of when we started dating back in highschool...11 years ago. He took me to this wonderful French restaurant called L'Etoile. It was very nice and the longest dinner I have ever sat down to eat. Our reservations were for 7:30 and we finished at 9:45-ish. The food was wonderful too.

After dinner we took a walk around the capital and down to Lake Monona. It was such a beautiful night too. Not too cold and not too hot. I think it was in the upper 60's. We walked up to the rooftop of the Monona Terrace, which is beautifully situated on Lake Monona. It was so beautiful. Matt got down on one knee and asked me the million dollar question..."will you marry me and be my wife?" I started crying. It was so beautiful. We got my ring at Kay Jewlers and had my momma's diamond from her engagement ring placed in a new setting. It is really pretty and I am so excited to finally have it on my hand.

My ring...sorry it's not a great picture.

What's that smell?

The Titum Arum started blooming at 12:30 p.m. the University of Wisconsin-Madison today. What is the Titum Arum? Well, apparently it is a very stinky flower. It is also called the carion flower. Yeah...can't you just smell it? Stinky huh?

This actually reminds me of a childhood moment. When I was growing up, my mom had this really stinky plant she called a carion plant. We hated the flower, although it was beautiful it was very pungent, but our chow-chow, Ted E. Bear, loved it. He actually killed it one summer by rolling around on it, in it's pot on our deck. My mom was upset because it was apparently an ireplaceable plant. I didn't like it because it made the backyard stink. It really did smell like a dead and rotting animal or something. Gag!!!

You can watch the Titum Arum bloom online by clicking here.

Enjoy!

Wisconsin....A Place Worse Than Hell?

For shits and giggles, I Googled Point Place, Wisconsin. This is where "That 70's Show" takes place. I wanted to know where it was, come to find out it doesn't exist. Hmm...imagine that. So, when I Googled, I came up with "Can Wisconsin Be Called 'A Place Worse Than Hell'?" It was published in a student paper from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. I found it quite interesting and thought I should share it.

Enjoy!

Silly things

Okay, so on my way home from taking Matthew back to work, I passed these 5 middle aged men sitting in their yard, beers in hand, in their lawn chairs watching some guys smooth the cement on their driveway. An hour ago, they were watching these guys pour the cement. How bored to you have to be to watch some hired guys pour and smooth cement? Silly little old men.

Haha!

PostSecret

PostSecret is a blog that a blogger in Germantown, Maryland has created as a way for people to share their secrets anonymously. All you have to do is make a 4x6 postcard with your deepest secret and a picture and send it to him. He'll post it on his page. People are sending him their regrets, hopes, fantasies, beliefs, fears, betrayals, erotic desires, and more. But he stresses that if you do send him one of your secrets, it should be TRUE and one you have never told anyone before. If you want to send him a secret, his address is at the very bottom of his page...scroll down and you'll find it.

I am finding all of these posts very interesting. You should check it out. He puts new posts up every Sunday. So check back every week.

Cheers!

Hurricane Season

Well, to all of you who didn't know, today marks the first day of the 2005 hurricane season in the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. Let's just hope for Florida's sake that the hurricanes stay calm this year. My mom said they are predicting 15 named storms this year with 8 of those becoming hurricanes. This source is coming from forcasters at Colorado State University....wait...Colorado. What? A landlocked state is saying there will be 15 named storms this year? Doesn't that seem strange to you? Anyways. Prepare early. Governor Jeb Bush is urging people to do so. Starting today, and lasting for 12 days, Florida will have a tax break on hurricane supplies. Get them now. Prices will only go up. Stock up!
