Walk Down Memory Lane

Thanks to a post over at The Rain King's blog on Monday(which I really did not read until today), I had a little walk down memory lane.

The Rain King posted a video he found by Subrosa. I know...many of you may not know who Subrosa is but they were a kick ass band from Gainesville, Florida. They started out as a band called For Squirrels but because of a auto accident and the death of two members and their tour manager Subrosa was formed.

Anyway, the video that The Rain King posted was "Buzzard" which is from the CD "Never Bet the Devil Your Head." It is a great CD by the way. So anyway, I decided to go to YouTube and see if I could find anymore "lost videos" from Subrosa and I got lucky.

I found "The Life Inside Me Killed This Song" and I also found For Squirrels "Mighty KC." I did this song in sign language in a psychology class at SJRCC as a part of a presentation on the Deaf and other aspects.

So anyway...these take me down memory lane because when I hear these songs and other songs by Gainesville, Florida (and surrounding areas) artists, I think of the Covered Dish. The Dish, as we called it, was a great place to hang out and listen to local music. I think Subrosa was one of the last bands I saw at The Dish before it closed its doors. It sucked when they closed cause it hurt some bands, Subrosa included. Some of the great bands that played The Dish (and are from the Gainesville area) were bloom., Less Than Jake, Noah's Red Tattoo, and many more. You may not have heard of many of these bands but I am guessing most everyone has heard of Less Than Jake. They are a popular Ska band.

Ah, what I would not give to see a video of "Worlds Greatest Lover" which is my favorite Subrosa song...okay I like all their songs. I guess I cannot choose just one cause I like "Rollercoaster" and "Antigen Fiend" and man...I could go on and on and on.

You can go to Amazon.com and listen to a sample of the songs on Subrosa's album "Never Bet The Devil Your Head" (incase you have NO idea what I am talking about).

Well, anyway. I wanted to pass along this walk down memory lane to my readers. If you remember any of this, post a comment. I would like to hear you Dish memories.

Bye All!!!
