Another Only In Wisconsin

As I live here in Wisconsin longer and longer, I start to think that the people up here are almost as weird (and crazy) as the rednecks back home in Florida. My final proof was shot down by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) yesterday after much debate over the last few months. I do not know if ya'll have heard about this in the news around the US but I know my mother did and she just thought it was too funny. Some hunter up here in Wisconsin proposed to the DNR that they make an open hunting season for...drum roll please...feral cats (they are not native to Wisconsin and they are killing the beautiful song birds...that wake me up at 5 in the morning with their "music"). Here is the story...you can read it for yourself. Apparently other states up here in the midwest have alread opened Cat Hunting Season. Sheesh. The Capital Times also has an updated story. Read it here.

Have a great day!

Our Governor, Jim Doyle, does not want Wisconsin know as the Cat Killing State. He has gotten many letters and e-mails from concerned cat and animal lovers all over the nation.

Guess I can't say that this is an "only in Wisconsin" story. According to the 10 p.m. news, Minnesota and South Dakota already have cat hunting days.
